Shrinky Dinks

Just a few photos from February 14, as I had to leave early. The kids drew bugs, butterflies, hearts or whatever onto Shrinky Dink, using color pencils.

Here's the shrinky dink before it goes in the oven.

And it's soooo fun to watch the plastic bend and shrink and grow tiny.
cool huh? Everyone loves shrinky dink! The kids went on to make pins, rings, and charms.

demo in progress by Jane LaFazio
I showed the kids how to draw a tree, then outline it with marker and paint with acrylic paint. I encouraged them to use lots of color within the painting, and showed them how different it was to paint with acrylic paint, versus watercolor.

I brought in some tree silhouettes for inspiration, letting them know they could mix and match different elements, or simply draw their own tree.

They gathered their paints.

They had their clay, to paint from last week too.
