Mundo Lindo ~ Beautiful World.
Where kids discover the joy and power of creativity…
This blog chronicles a free after-school program for 4th & 5th grade kids in Escondido, California.
Today was clay day. The kids love clay! The theme was 'war of the worlds' that very old radio program (radio? not podcast?) and the kids were encouraged to create space creatures, vehicles, tools whatever they could imagine. At the end of the class they explained their creations and it was fascinating!
The project took longer than I expected and no one finished, but the good news was they wanted to work on them again next week. This was a challenging project for the kids!
I brought in a pattern of a funny looking dog from this book and the kids chose the fabric, cut out the pattern and began handstitching the pieces together.
Jaime, working on his story. First a pencil storyboard, then to watercolor paper and pen and paint. The kids had to put themselves in the story, and it could be true or made up.
