We're painting our clay from last week



Some were just creating with clay this week. That's a burger, fries and cold drink.



We designed monster dolls, which will be next week's project

and really, it's all about the shoes.

Here he is today~ Volunteering and teaching at Mundo Lindo.

We had a full class, some painting their clay from last week, and some, who just started today, were working in clay.

Amy was at a meeting, and I was on my own. With Leo.

While I helped the one group with painting, Leo taught 8 kids to make pinch pots, coil and slab. Completely on his own.

I don't think I could be any prouder. Thank you Leo.

We made pinch pots, coil pots and worked with slabs. The clay will self-harden and we'll paint it next week.

Mundo Lindo 2011

Mundo Lindo is starting it's fourth year! Here's Amy and the Thursday kids in front of the murals they made last year.

We worked with clay, today, learning how to make a pinch pot, a coil pot and then work with slab construction. The kids were totally engaged! They love clay!

December 18 ~ Holiday Party

Lots of kids and their families came on Saturday, from 1:30-3:30 for our holiday party. We had all the materials for the Wes Bruce project~ shoe boxes, straws, fabric, buttons, popsicle sticks, telephone wire, markers, glue, acorns....etc. The families worked together to create their own diorama. We had pizza and cookies and juice too!












We hung the two murals that the kids had done with Amy.


Mundo Lindo starts up again on Thursday, January 13th and Tuesday the 18th! See you then!(If you want to join us, you need to go to an Escondido (California) Public School and be in the 4th or 5th grade. Email Amy for details.)

Santa's Workshop!

We were very busy this last Thursday before the holiday break!

Painting paper roll Nutcracker men. (Edgar recently saw a performance of the Nutcracker at CCAE, so the inspiration was fresh in his mind.)

The teen volunteers had time to make mosaic pots

A fabulous Nutcracker!

At the end of a very busy two hours, every kid went home with a wrapped gift (their mosaic pots) an paper roll something, an ornament a gift tag...whew!

Mosaic flower pots

We're making mosaic flower pots. Terra cotta pots, along wtih small mosaic tiles, glass gems (flat on one side) buttons, broken tile, and shells. The kids are gluing the pieces individually using Weldbond glue, from the hardware store.



We'll grout them next week!

We're also working on a large pot for the CCAE garden.
