Tuesday's class worked with African Adinkra Symbols. I give the kids a hand-out with lots of symbols and their meanings, and ask them to pick out 4 that are traits they'd like to emulate. We drew them in pencil, outlined in marker, colored with oil pastel and then added watercolor. Oh, and we worked with rulers too, to create a 2" border on the artwork.
We had a lesson in drawing and watercolor, using fruit as our subject. When the kids had painted 4 fruits, they moved on to painting birds.
As usual, the boys sit together
Amy, my wonderful assistant.
Such a gorgeous day, we spent the last 15 minutes playing outside.
Mundo Lindo class begins! September 16, 2010. We had 27 kids show up! Fourth and fifth graders, recommended by their teachers, and all from Escondido schools. This is our 3rd year of Mundo Lindo, and it started with a bang! So many kids, we'll be adding a Tuesday class.
