Tuesday Clay Day

The kids love working with clay! They request it every session. We use a red clay that air dries. I showed the 7 kids how to consturct a box shape using the slab technique. Last week, San Diego experienced county wide wild fires, and all the schools (and Mundo Lindo) were closed. As a group, we discussed the ramifications of the fire, overall, all were well and glad to be back to Mundo Lindo.

Thursday Class

Sixteen kids in class today. They did a great job on the soft pastel pumpkins.

Both the Tuesday and Thursday classes are going to be painting a mural at Escondido Children's Museum on Oct 30 and Nov 1.

Just 6 kids in class today (the others were on a school field trip). I brought in an assortment of wonderful pumpkins, and we drew from those using soft pastels using Georgia O'Keeffee as our influence. The kids did a great job! These 6 will be on display at the Escondido Childrens Museum!

Big class today, 15 kids. We finished painting our papier mache, then drew pics of it, and wrote a story about it. We had time to have the kids who wanted to, read aloud their stories. We even had time for a dance performance by D and E!

Eight kids in Tuesday's class. Last week they made papier mache animals and this week, they painted them using acyrlic paint. I told them they could paint the animal either realistically or from their imaginations. I'm pretty sure she's painting a bee, though it could be a butterfly.

After they created their papier mache animals, and painted them with acrylics, then they did a painting of their animal, and wrote a story about it around the painting.
