18 kids and one dog

Thursday's class was a full house! Papier mache.

full house

We were so busy today, I didn't get photos of the finished products, which included a red crab among suns and starbursts.

recycled materials and papier mache

My friend Nancy gave me a big bag of large wooden circles--drapery hanging things. We used those, popsicle sticks, phone book pages, masking tape, artpaste, and tissue paper.

building

This part was kind of tricky, and the kids helped eachother tape the sticks to the hoops.

phone book pages worked great!

the papier mache part is slimy.

concentration required

suns, turtles, snowflakes....

While they were still wet, the kids added layers of tissue paper for color. The hoops had little eye screws, so we attached fishing line so they could hang...

Self portrait week

Self portraits this week. I taught the kids to draw a face, in proper proportion, then let them go with collage to create!

FULL class!

Thursday's class is full! We had about 19 kids today. Hectic, but great fun.
