Tuesday class

Tuesday after Christmas class.

Elizabeth

We did shrinky dink fish (and starfish and jellyfish too.) We all love shrinky dink!

half the fun is watching the shrinky dink shrink

It takes about 3 minutes, and we love to watch it curl and then flatten and shrink.

shrinky dink step one

This shrinky dink material required permanent markers

shrinky dink step two!

Heat it and it shrinks!

water scene (no time for kelp)

The kids painted two sheets of watercolor paper. One as sea (with salt sprinkled) and one as sky. Then I cut the water into 3 waves and we dangled the fish from fishing line from the top. We didn't have time to make kelp from green construction paper, as I'd planned. The kids were too into making fish.

Some classes have a holiday theme this time of year. Our theme seems to be robots

all I want for Christmas

After she finished her robot, Janet created this collage Christmas tree, with presents under the tree. AND she added her Christmas wish list complete with the total cost!

paper chain advent

I'd never heard of this, creating a paper chain and tearing off the links as it gets closer to Christmas. Ashley told us about it and some of the kids made them

VIDEO: Julian describes the robot he drew

For this project, I printed out pictures of all different kinds of robots and put them on the wall for reference. Then I asked the kids to draw 5 different robots, of their own creation. Julian drew this robot and then explained to me what the robot was made of and how it would be assembled. In other words, he drew something that he'd just build in his imagination. Very cool. Julian is 10 years old

happy thanksgiving

Jovan made this.
