Birds!

Remember when the kids made bakers clay from flour, salt and water? Each of them gave me one of the birds they made, and I mounted them to this piece of wood (actually, a cupboard door that was the perfect size.) I'm going to give it to Katie, the Escondido Children's Museum director, for her office.

Tuesday people books

Another special visitor in class today! Brownie the rabbit. Very cute! Ten kids in class and we created accordian style books cut like people. Some kids had a theme of people they admire (Elvis and me, among others :-) or themselves at different ages, or robots.

birds on thursday

It's spring break, and 5 kids in class today. Very unusual to have such a small class. Here's a road runner watercolor done by a 5th grader.

tuesday bird books

We had the perfect visitor to class today. "Bluey" the parakeet! The kids drew and watercolored from pictures of birds and some artificial birds into an accordian style book. Ten kids, one bird.
See the bird, in the center of the table?

thursday Kites!

Ten kids in today's thursday class.

A flying green football and an ice cream cone were some of the themes.

Great fun. No sun this afternoon, but a better wind, so the kites got higher!

oops. A near casuality. My husb was there to assist.

tuesday KITES!

Ten kids in class today. First they drew their designs on paper. Then redrew them on these great kite kits I'd ordered from here. Frustrationless Flyer Kits, they're called. 20 kites for about $60.

Then we went out in Grape Day Park and flew the kites! As you can see it was a gorgeous day. Many of the kids had never flown kites before. You can just see the joy on their faces. Ah, life is good. It was a wonderful afternoon!

My husb joined Sarah and I to help and act a their 'pit crew.'
