We did tie-dye t-shirts. Here's the Thursday class of 21 kids!!! Thank goodness, I had some extra volunteer help! BIG thanks to Virginia, Pamela, Evie and husb (sporting his tie-dye shirt that he made this summer.) Here are the kids tieing their shirts with rubber bands. I used the tie-dye kit and bought t-shirts from Dharma.

The shirts soak in a soda ash mixture for 20 minutes. Virginia and Evie were in charge here.

First the kids made a list of traits for their own superheroes. (Powers, human or animal, hair color, fave food etc.) Then they cut out fabric from a pattern and created their own super hero puppet.

17 kids!

What a day! The kids started out great, drawing in chalk pastel. But, with our Santa Ana very dry winds, and the carpet in this room, everytime I touched a kid, or they touched each other, static electricity and a shock! It got them all wound up and giggling...So, we spend some time at ECM, in the back garden, but the kids were wild today.

I brought some pumpkins and squash from the grocery store, along with chalk pastels and construction paper. I encouraged them to do a kind of Georgia O'Keeffee viewpoint.

Easy fun project this week. Make a collage (from old magazines) about themselves now or when they're grown up. They kids could do it in accordian book form or on a full sheet of paper.
