Robots and picture frames

Robots. One of my personal faves. I ask the kids to think about what kind of things their robots would do for them, and then to design a robot with those 'skills.'

Always a full class! 20 kids the last week before the winter holidays

I found these cardboard robots at a craft store and just couldn't resist. The kids traced them, then made them their own.


 










We also had some little frames. They designed their frame on paper first, then colored them, and if they were going to give it as a gift, we had a gift wrap station too.

Mundo Lindo is on a winter break! Class starts again Thursday, January 19th!

Oh Tannenbaum

Mundo Lindo's wonderful friend, Elizabeth Chiment, gave us all these cardboard cones (yarn spools).
The kids painted them, then we cut snowflakes, then decorated their trees (or in one case, spaceship)  

As usual, LOTS of kids! Teen volunteers, Leo and Lorena were there to help.

Gingerbread People theme

I made gingerbread cookies at home, for the kids to decorate to get in the mood for our project.
 
I set up a cookie decorating station. They were instructed to decorate, then eat immediately!
 



 
    


Then, we made gingerbread pins from everyone's favorite Shrinky Dink!

I gave this template to trace. You can see how much the shrinky dinks shrink! I had pin backs to attach, so they could make them into pins for possible gifts.
 
They, clearly, didn't need to stick with the gingerbread theme.

And a visit from Lorena and Leo! They're Monica's siblings, and started with me in the Mundo Lindo program in 2006.
